MAIN CONTENTS OF ISO 14067-2018

SCOPE:

Applicable to the quantification of product carbon footprint, does not cover communication and reporting, verification and validation, etc., but is interrelated and complementary with other relevant standards such as ISO 14025, ISO 14064-3, etc.

PRINCIPLES:

Including life cycle perspective, relative methods and functional/reporting units, iterative methods, scientific method priorities, relevance, completeness, consistency, coherence, precision, transparency and avoidance of double counting.

QUANTIFICATION METHODS:

Details the steps for quantifying product carbon footprint, including definition of objectives and scope, life cycle inventory analysis, impact assessment and interpretation. In the goal and scope definition stage, functional units and system boundaries need to be determined; life cycle inventory analysis involves steps such as data collection, verification, and association to unit processes and functional units; impact assessment mainly involves interpretation and evaluation of the results of life cycle inventory analysis; finally, in the interpretation stage, the entire research process and results need to be summarized and analyzed.

RESEARCH REPORT:

Specifies the content and format of the product carbon footprint research report, such as the purpose, scope, methods, data collection and processing, results analysis, uncertainty assessment, etc., to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the report.

CRITICAL REVIEW:

Discusses the key review points of the product carbon footprint research, including data quality and completeness, the rationality of the system boundary setting, the correctness of the allocation method, etc., which helps to improve the credibility and reliability of the research.

APPENDIX:

Provides supplementary information such as the limitations of product carbon footprint, comparison based on different carbon footprints, carbon footprint system methods, and possible procedures for recycling and treatment.

Implementation of SETsafe | SETfuse

The implementation of ISO 14067 is as follows:

Global brands increasingly require their suppliers to report the environmental performance of their products, especially the carbon footprint. As an electronic component supplier, SETsafe | SETfuse needs to meet the green supply chain requirements of downstream major customers, responding to the policy orientation of China's "dual carbon" goals (carbon peak and carbon neutrality).

SYSTEM BOUNDARY:

SETsafe | SETfuse's core products are circuit protection components. Its PCF calculation focuses on:

RAW MATERIALS STAGE (A1-A3):

Emissions from the production of raw materials such as metals (copper, silver, tin and other alloy materials), ceramics, plastics, etc. This part is one of the main sources of product carbon footprint.

MANUFACTURING STAGE (A4):

Energy consumption (electricity, gas) in the process of smelting, stamping, welding, assembly, testing, packaging, etc. in the factory. This is the core link that SETsafe | SETfuse can directly control and reduce emissions. Establishing a complete energy metering system is the key.

INTERNAL TRANSPORTATION (A4) & DISTRIBUTION STAGE (A5):

Emissions from the transportation of raw materials into the factory and finished products out of the factory.

USE STAGE (B1-B7):

For fuse products, the energy consumption in the use stage is usually very low (only line loss), and the impact is very small.

END OF LIFE STAGE (C1-C4):

Emissions from the treatment of waste electronic components (recycled metals have high recycling value and potential emission reduction). However, data acquisition is difficult and may rely on secondary data.

The carbon footprint calculation of some products has been completed and verified by a third party, and the product carbon footprint declaration that meets the requirements of ISO 14067 has been published.
